MISSION: To disciple, train and develop college/twenty-somethings to love God, love people and lead with purpose and persuasion in every sphere of society.
- Disciple – the intentional growth and maturing of the relationship between a believer and the Holy Spirit. (spirit)
- Train – the refining of character through disciplines that establish healthy routines, focus and self-control. (body)
- Develop – the process of discovering and growing in the gifts and talents you’ve been given. (soul – mind & emotions)
VISION: To prepare college/twenty-something’s for leadership in the family, church, workplace and government, through growing in kingdom-minded authority and integrating holistic life skills, so that they can effectively reach and engage people with the message of Jesus Christ in every sphere of society. To raise up a generation of young leaders that stand in stark contrast to the way the world views influence – not as a means of self aggrandizement or manipulation, but as leaders who serve – laying down their lives in the image and example of Jesus Christ. To see a community of people who live and lead like Jesus, not just in the end but as a people that are wholly vested in the ways of Jesus.
-
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
- To prepare college/twenty-somethings to be articulate and persuasive, versed in rhetoric and debate, and to develop an influential voice in whatever sphere they are called to work. Statistically only 5% of Americans are ready and willing to command the public platform. In essence, those 5% direct the course of the morays and values that shape society.
- To form strategic networks where Revolution5 can continually link with and help supply the various needs of organizations seeking trained young people throughout the workplace, church, mission field, government, arts and entertainment, media and education.
- To prepare students to be bulwarks of influence in the institutions of higher learning, and to continually develop relationship with key universities where students are awarded credits towards their future degrees.
- To produce students with a tremendous work ethic that are highly committed, who can work well under significant responsibility, understand and respond well to authority, work confidently with others and that can lead well in pressure or crisis situations.
VALUES: Devotion. Discipline. Character. Community. Courage.
- Devotion – Mark 12:30: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” We believe that the only sustaining foundation for passion and commitment to the Lord is found in intimacy with Christ; not only is it the means through which He moves his servants, it is the glorious reward of those who love Him.
- Discipline – I Corinthians 9:24-27: “I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” We believe that disciplines are essentially routines, and routines form guidelines that help to sustain and protect what is most important to us. For this reason we establish disciplines in:
- Our bodies through physical training and endurance
- Our souls (mind/will/emotions) through rigorous study, focused retreats and accountability
- Our spirits through prayer, fasting, worship, meditation and constant examining of the Word
- Character – Romans 5:3: “…we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” We believe that true character is wrought through perseverance and is antecedent to the Message of hope. Missionary Jim Elliot once said, “The quality of the work is determined by the character of the worker.” “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”, Matthew 5:16
- Community – Psalms 133: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity…for there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.” John 13:35: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Biblical community serves two essential purposes: one, it provides the humus out of which all spiritual growth and maturity take place, and two, it serves as a testimony to the world of those who are in relationship with Jesus.
- Courage – Acts 4:12: “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” We believe that courage is a reflection of God’s grace given to fulfill God’s purposes through a person’s life. The essence of courage is not willpower, but yielded obedience to the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, and is for the purpose of proclaiming and living out the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
The Core Values of Revolution5 are listed in sequence as a process of the maturing Christian: a believer genuinely encounters Jesus and begins the passionate pursuit of a devoted life; devotion makes way for the many sacrifices that help to focus and guide a disciplined life; discipline yields perseverance and perseverance, over time and with wisdom, yields character; character matures and grows in the context of community and finally, community becomes the expression and incubator of courageous messengers of the Good News to the world.
