We are so excited to be entering into our third week together of praying for the Nations! As sons and daughters of God, we have such a unique opportunity to partner with Him in what He's doing around the world. Through prayer, we are getting to be involved in hastening the day of our Lord Jesus, in the return of the King, asking first for a Return TO the King throughout the Nations. We are looking for His sovereign faithfulness to be shown in both the countries of India and Pakistan and believe that He is moving and will continue to do miraculous things as we continue to pray (prayer points below).
Project Pearl is remembered to be one of the most significant moves of God for believers in China to this day. About 40 years ago a ship was greeted in the middle of the night by 400 brothers. They expectantly awaited the arrival of something they knew would be their lifeblood, something they had been praying and waiting for, something that could cost them their lives. This ship, was filled with over a million Bibles. The import, as told by Xiao Chen, "was a miracle to us". The miracle of these Bibles were a response to the fervent prayers of the Christians in their desperate hunger for the word. These Chinese Christians knew that the life this Word could give them was far more valuable than the life that could be taken from them if anyone found the book in their possession.
The delivery of a million Bibles through Project Pearl became the spark of a massive revival in China. Many brothers throughout the country received a Bible; people heard and accepted the name of Jesus; churches were formed, all increasing the hunger and longing for God's word among the believers. Today, young believers are impacted by the faith of their elders and are being sent among their nation and beyond, fearlessly proclaiming the name of Jesus.
Despite the government's increasing persecution and surveillance of believers, the Church in China is growing and thriving. Christians in China are severely oppressed, being constantly monitored and watched. They are unable to openly worship, they are often threatened with imprisonment and abduction. Many believers' families have been persecuted and physically harmed because of their faith, yet God remains faithful. Many are coming to know Jesus and receive Him as Lord, even in the face of persecution. God has been mightily moving in China through the faithfulness of His children, and we are asking that He would continue what He has begun. We get to step out in faith for our brothers and sisters, asking for protection and courage in the midst of an intensifying situation. God has a powerful hand over His people in China, and we get to partner with the work He has begun!
